The Toyota Alvark downed the Isuzu Motors GigaCats 69-66 on Saturday to take the first two games of the best-of-three Super League men's basketball final and claim their first league championship. Toyota got 24 points each from Takehiko Orimo and Charles O'Bannon at Yoyogi National Gymnasium as the team that finished fourth in the league standings rallied from a one-point deficit at the half with a 20-6 third-quarter run and then held on for the win. Toyota forward Orimo was named MVP of the tournament. It was the last game for the six-time champion GigaCats after Isuzu announced last month that it will disband the team.
