Takao Suzuki came from one set down to beat Croatian teenager Mario Ancic in the men's final Sunday to win his first title in seven years at the national indoor tennis championships.

Suzuki scored a 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-2 victory over 17-year-old Ancic at Kyoto Municipal Gymnasium to become the first Japanese to win the men's crown since the tournament was opened to foreign entries in 1997.

In the women's final, Haruka Inoue beat Kaori Aoyama 6-4, 6-3 to claim her first national indoor title.
