Hampered by injuries, Japan coach Philippe Troussier will call up an additional four to five players for his team's next training camp late this month, the Japan Football Association said Wednesday in Tokyo.
For the coming training sessions slated for Feb. 25-27 in Shimizu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Troussier initially planned to call up the same 41 members from last month's training sessions in Kagoshima.
But after the January get-together, several players -- including defenders Ryuzo Morioka of Shimizu and Kenichi Uemura of Sanfrecce, midfielder Alessandro "Alex" Santos of Shimizu and Jubilo forward Naohiro Takahara -- suffered injuries which forced them to skip or cut short their sessions in the just completed medical and physical check-ups in Tokyo.
