The Yomiuri Giants will try to negotiate a deal with former Philadelphia Phillies right-hander John Wasdin to make him a possible starter for the team next season, club officials said Wednesday.
Yomiuri has already begun inquiries to the commissioner's office regarding the 29-year-old, who was released by the Phillies last week.
Wasdin started in 21 games with the Oakland Athletics in 1996 and has posted 31 wins in his major league career.
