World Boxing Council bantamweight top-ranked challenger Toshiaki Nishioka on Monday pulled out of a planned world title doubleheader in March due to injury, officials of his gym said.
Nishioka was scheduled to fight the winner of a Jan. 11 match arranged for Thai champion Veeraphol Nakonluangpromotion, but tore an Achilles tendon in his right foot during Monday's sparring, forcing him to withdraw from the March 3 event at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo.
