J. League chairman Saburo Kawabuchi said on Tuesday that Avispa Fukuoka would likely be punished because it failed to properly supervise one of its players.
A 19-year-old Avispa player last month was arrested on suspicion of paying a 14-year-old girl to fondle her. The incident occurred at the players' dormitory in Fukuoka.
The Division One club will likely have to do 5 million yen worth of community service.
Kawabuchi said the J. League's punishment will be finalized as early as Thursday after he receives a report from the league's arbitration committee. Many J. League club presidents had asked the league to punish Avispa.
