Veteran Naoki Yasuzaki nailed the day's longest leap on his first try and cruised to victory in the Yoshida Cup Sunday, the opening event of the domestic ski-jumping season.

Yasuzaki had jumps of 96 and 79.5 meters at the K-90 normal hill in Nayoro to win with 219.5 points.

Hiroya Saito, a member of Japan's gold medal-winning team at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, finished runnerup with 211.0 points after jumps of 86.5 and 86 meters.

Yukio Sakano came third on 204.5. Japan's World Cup team members did not compete in the event.
