World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport and three-time champion Martina Hingis head a strong field for next year's Toray Pan Pacific Open, organizers said Wednesday.
Also on the list of participating players for the Jan. 29-Feb. 3 tournament at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium are U.S. Open runnerup Serena Williams, Jelena Dokic, who won the Toyota Princess Cup in Tokyo in October, and former world No. 1 Monica Seles.
Davenport beat Hingis in last year's final and went on to win a further three tournaments during the year to edge Jennifer Capriati out of the women's No. 1 spot in the final few days of the season.
Russian star Anna Kournikova, whose ranking plummeted to No. 71 after an injury-plagued season, also received a wild-card entry.
