Newly crowned all-around champion Hiroyuki Tomita added two apparatus titles to his collection at the national gymnastics championships Sunday, while dethroned Naoya Tsukahara managed to win just one event.

Tomita, a Juntendo University gymnast who ended Tsukahara's run of five-straight all-around titles on Saturday, topped the field to claim victories in the rings with 9.550 points and parallel bars with 9.475 at the Kochi Prefectural Youth Center Gymnasium.

Tsukahara, allowed to perform on the pommel horse as a last-minute replacement, put on a fine display of his talent and triumphed with 9.575 for his only title of the championships.

In other events, Isao Yoneda prevailed in the floor exercise with 9.550, Mutsumi Harada won the vault with 9.287 and Yoshihiro Saito took the horizontal bar with the day's best score of 9.725 in all disciplines.

In the women's finals, 16-year-old Ayaka Sahara, second in women's all-around on Saturday, performed an original triple-twist backflip to perfection to win the balance beam with 9.275.

All-around champion Erika Mizoguchi claimed the uneven bars title with 8.575, Kyoko Oshima won the floor exercise with 9.100, and Ayako Tanaka prevailed in the vault by scoring 8.887.
