The Yokohama BayStars have acquired four foreign players, including Florida Marlins infielder Mike Gulan, officials of the Central League club said Tuesday.

Gulan, who played in six games for Florida while hitting 22 homers for Triple-A Calgary in 2001, joins Yokohama, along with minor-league pitcher Jason Turman, Mexican League outfielder Boi Rodriguez and pitcher Domingo Guzman, who played in Taiwan this past season.

Yukinaga Maeda joins Yomiuri Giants

NAGOYA (Kyodo) Free-agent southpaw Yukinaga Maeda announced Tuesday that he has decided to join the Yomiuri Giants after two rounds of unsuccessful talks with the Chunichi Dragons.

Maeda, a 13-year veteran who has spent the last six years with Chunichi, appeared in 36 games in 2001 and had four wins and 10 losses.
