Japan striker Naohiro Takahara has been left out of Boca Juniors' 21-man squad for the upcoming Toyota Cup match against European champion Bayern Munich in Tokyo, the Argentine first-division club said Saturday.
Boca manager Carlos Bianchi did not include Takahara among the four forwards traveling to Japan for the Nov. 27 clash at Tokyo's National Stadium.
Takahara became the first Japanese player to appear in the Argentine first division when he made his debut for Boca in August but has struggled to make an impact and has scored just one goal in over 5 1/2 hours playing time.
