The Orix BlueWave are moving to acquire Montreal Expos infielder Fernando Seguignol as a replacement for Joe Vitiello, who has been released by the Pacific League club, Orix officials said Tuesday.
Seguignol, 26, has a .251 batting average with 40 RBIs and 17 homers in 172 games in the majors. Vitiello had a .275 average, 83 RBIs and 22 homers in his first year in Japan.
