reaffirmed its decision not to send a team to next week's World Championships in Belgium after meeting with gymnasts Tuesday.
The JGA announced last Thursday it would not take part in the championships, getting under way Sunday, over concerns arising in the wake of U.S.-led air strikes in Afghanistan.
Leading gymnasts, however, later complained they had not been consulted for their opinions before the decision was made.
JGA president Hidenori Futagi met with Norimasa Iwai, captain of the men's national team, on Tuesday to explain the reasons behind the decision, stressing that the association was the body ultimately responsible for the athletes.
Japan will miss the championships, held every other year, for the first time since the first world meet was held in Rome in 1954.
