Yomiuri Giants infielder Kazuhiro Kiyohara has formally agreed to remain with Japan's most popular baseball team as he negotiates a multi-year contract with the Central League club, front office officials said Thursday.
Kiyohara, 34, who qualified for free agency a second time this season, told Yomiuri representatives of his wish to re-sign with the Giants at a meeting Wednesday.
He hit .298 with 121 RBIs and 29 home runs this season.
