The Seattle Mariners hit the field Wednesday for a light workout a day after losing 5-0 to the Cleveland Indians in their American League Division Series opener.

Ichiro Suzuki, who went 3-for-4 and was one of the only Mariners to get a piece of the hard-throwing Bartolo Colon, reflected on his own performance in the first game of the best-of-five series.

"The only way to steal a base is if you can catch the pitcher off guard. Yesterday, there wasn't a moment when the pitcher was off guard," said Ichiro, who was caught on a pitchout when he tried to steal second base after reaching on a single in the third inning.

Ichiro, the 2001 AL batting champion and stolen bases leader, explained that the fact that he was not able to advance after singling in his first two at-bats was not solely because of Colon's throws over to first.
