Daiei Hawks manager Sadaharu Oh underwent an operation to remove his appendix Wednesday and will require hospitalization for about one week, officials of the Pacific League club said Thursday.
Oh, who was in good condition following the surgery at a Tokyo hospital, will need additional treatment and will miss the start of the Hawks' fall practice sessions, which get under way Saturday.
