Taiwan's Lin Keng-chi, enjoying a breakthrough year on the Japanese tour, shot a solid 2-under-par 70 Friday in tough conditions to take a one-stroke lead midway through the ANA Open golf tournament.

Lin carded four birdies and two bogeys on his way to an 8-under-par 136 total on the Sapporo Golf Club's Watts Course, where swirling winds and difficult pin placements prevented players from shooting low scores.

Lin's round left him one shot in front of Tait, who had a 73, and fellow Australian Scott Laycock, who charged up the leaderboard with a useful round of 68.
