The Japanese World Cup Organizing Committee said Thursday it may start the second round of ticket sales for next year's World Cup for residents in Japan shortly before the Dec. 1 draw for the tournament.
The details about the next round of sales will be announced following a FIFA meeting slated for Oct. 2-3.
JAWOC has a blueprint for selling approximately 80,000 to 100,000 tickets for the second round of sales through telephone bookings on a first-come, first-served basis. The application period is expected to begin shortly before the final draw in order to avoid possible congestion for telephone line access.
Internet ticket sales are still in question because of financial problems. JAWOC has said it cannot afford to create a new system after the ISL-created Internet service, used for the first round of sales, failed.
