Veteran Masahiko Harada edged European rivals Sunday to win the final meet of the summer jump grand prix series for the first podium finish by a Japanese jumper.

Harada took the lead with a 123.5-meter effort in the first round of jumps and went on to claim his first summer victory in three years after nailing a 126-meter leap on his second attempt at the K-120 Olympic hill in Hakuba.

Harada earned 254.1 points to finish in front of runnerup Austrian Martin Hoellwarth, who posted Sunday's longest jump of 133.5 meters on his way to 241.2, and third-placed Peter Zonta of Slovenia, who had 234.2.

Adam Malysz of Poland won this year's overall title of the seven-meet series with 397 points.

Andreas Goldberger of Austria followed in second place with 364 and compatriot Stefan Horngacher in third with 357.
