Kumiko Hiyoshi came back from one shot down on the last hole to win the Japan LPGA Championship for the second time after a dramatic finish at the Rope Club on Sunday.

Hiyoshi had three birdies and four bogeys in a round of 1-over-par 73 for a 6-under total of 282 to finish one stroke ahead of Akiko Fukushima and Toshimi Kimura, who also carded 73s.

Katayama victorious

INZAI, Chiba Pref. (Kyodo) Shingo Katayama burst away from the field in the final nine holes Sunday, shooting a 5-under-par 66 to win the Suntory Open by three strokes for his third victory of the year.

Katayama ran in six birdies in an impressive round with his only bogey coming at the last with the title already in the bag as he finished the 72-hole tournament at 16-under 268 at the Sobu Country Club.

Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke closed with a 68 to finish in joint second place with Keiichiro Fukabori and Nobuo Serizawa at 271.
