World champion pair Jonathan Crossley and Kylie Jones of Britain took the standard dance title at the World Games in Akita on Saturday, while a powerful Dutch team won the men's tug-of-war.

Crossley and Jones won by a narrow 7-8 margin over Mirko Gozzoli and Alessia Betti of Italy, who were also runners up to the British pair at the European championships in March, after the five disciplines of the final at Akita City Gymnasium.

Arunas Bizokas and Edita Daniute of Lithuania took third with 16 points followed by Japan's Hirofumi and Kyoko Amano.

In the men's outdoor tug-of-war, the Netherlands team went unbeaten in the preliminaries and then out-pulled a stubborn Swiss team in the best two-out-of-three final at Yuwa Football Stadium to win the gold medal.
