The schedules for the water ski and casting sports at the World Games in Akita Prefecture were changed due to the approach of Typhoon Pabuk, officials of the Games organizing committee said Tuesday.

Organizers said that the official practice for the water ski events on Wednesday and the preliminaries for the casting competitions were canceled due to the danger presented by the approach of the powerful storm system.

Programs scheduled to be held Tuesday and Wednesday at the World Games Plaza, a venue for athletes and local citizens to interact, were also canceled, the officials said. The World Games Plaza is scheduled to reopen on Thursday.
