Leo Gomez hammered a two-run homer, his second homer of the day, in the eighth inning off reliever Tomokazu Teramura having hit a solo homer in the second.
Masa Yamamoto (8-8) overcame a sluggish start after allowing three runs on four hits in the first inning, including a two-run homer to Atsuya Furuta. Chunichi gave up three hits in the next six innings. Lefty Hitoki Iwase and Eddie Gaillard combined on no hits for the rest of the way. Gaillard got his 22nd save.
