Yuta Takatsuka pitched a six-hitter and Hisao Hora went 3-for-4 with an RBI Monday to lift Heian of Kyoto over Yamagata's Sakata Minami 4-2 in the second round of the Summer High School Baseball Championship.

Side-slinger Takatsuka struck out four and walked two over the distance as Heian rallied on a game-tying RBI single by Takahiro Imanami in the sixth inning and a squeeze bunt by Manabu Kado in the seventh that gave the 28-time participant the lead for good.

In Monday's second game, Shiga's Omi defeated Moriokadai Fuzoku from Iwate Prefecture 4-1 to join Heian in the third round of the 83rd championship at Koshien Stadium thanks to run-scoring singles by Teruya Onishi and Yoichi Hashimoto in the fourth inning.

In the third game, Tsukahara Seiun from Nagano, making its first appearance in 35 years, posted its first victory in the annual tournament in an 8-7 seesaw contest against Tottori's Yazu.

Cleanup hitter Yoichi Hasegawa tied the game with a one-out RBI triple and Yusaku Akamine followed with a go-ahead single to cap a two-run rally in the ninth for Tsukahara Seiun, which had squandered a four-run lead in Yazu's five-run eighth.

In Monday's final game, Kosei Gakuin connected for five hits to drive home four runs in the opening frame as the Aomori school went on to crush Wakayama's Hatsushiba Hashimoto 9-2.

Kosei starter and cleanup hitter Shingo Matsuzaki held Hatsushiba to two runs and three hits in 82/3 innings.
