Meiho high school of Oita Prefecture made its debut at Koshien Stadium with a bang Saturday, pounding out 26 hits in a 20-0 romp over Fukushima's Seiko Gakuin in the high school baseball national championship tourney.

Infielder Shogo Takeda went 3-for-3 with five RBIs while Junichi Kuroda collected four hits, including a double and a triple, to chase in four more runs in the first-round contest as each of the starting nine for Meiho connected for a least one hit.

Pitchers Masayuki Hata and Hirotake Shimada, meanwhile, combined on a four-hitter for Meiho.

In Saturday's first game, relief pitcher Yushi Aida held Nagasaki's Hasami to one run over six innings of work and drove in a pair of runs to lift Sano Nichidai of Tochigi Prefecture into the second round with a 4-1 win.

In the third game, Takahisa Fujimoto forged a six-hit shutout for Tamano Konan and drove in three runs to lead the Okayama school 8-0 over Obihiro Sanjo of Hokkaido.

In the day's final game, highly touted right-hander Hayato Terahara struck out 10 over eight innings of work and his Miyazaki teammates rapped out 18 hits as Nichinan Gakuen rolled to an 8-1 win over Yokkaichi Kogyo of Mie Prefecture.
