Chiben Gakuen batters pounded out 18 hits Friday and rolled to a 13-2 win over Shizuoka Ichiritsu in the first round of the high school baseball national championship tournament.

Kohei Ueda and Tomoya Ebisutani both homered in the fourth inning as each of the starting members from the Nara school collected at least one hit in the game at Koshien Stadium.

In the second game, Maebashi Kogyo rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Gunma school came from behind to post a 7-6 victory over Fukui Shogyo and advance to the second round.

In the third game, Narashino's Kota Sasaki held Jinsei Gakuen of Kagawa Prefecture, a quarterfinalist in the spring invitational, to one run on five hits as the Chiba school moved into the second round with a 3-1 triumph.

Chiaki Kajioka connected for an RBI single in the fifth inning and Atsushi Tsujino beat out a double-play grounder for another run as Narashino grabbed a 2-0 lead on its way to an upset win.
