Yokohama catcher Motonobu Tanishige smashed a grand slam home run to highlight a six-run 10th inning on Tuesday night as the BayStars beat the Hiroshima Carp for their season-high seventh straight victory -- an 11-5 win at Hiroshima Stadium. With the score tied 5-5 in the 10th, pinch-hitter Jon Zuber and Hitoshi Taneda hit back-to-back RBI singles for the go-ahead runs. Tanishige then capped off the inning with a grand slam off Hiroshima hurler Shinji Sasaoka (6-9).
Yokohama led 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth, but Luis Lopez nailed a clutch game-tying solo homer off BayStars closer Takashi Saito to take the game into extra innings.
Despite the home run, Saito got the win, pitching two innings in relief.
