The Seattle Mariners have been tipped to play the regular-season opener in Japan next year, Seattle manager Lou Piniella said Monday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants have been named as potential opponents, Piniella said.
Major League Baseball (MLB) officials will announce next season's schedule when they conclude ongoing labor negotiations with the players' union. A five-year labor accord expires this season.
