Giants right fielder Yoshinobu Takahashi nailed a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth inning off Dragons reliever Hitoki Iwase as Yomiuri won its third straight game and 40th of the season by beating Chunichi 6-5 at the Sapporo Dome on Tuesday.
In the inaugural game of the newly built Sapporo Dome, the Dragons were up 5-3 in the eighth inning. That's when the Giants jumped on Iwase for a three-run burst to take the lead for good.
Iwase (6-2), who took to the mound from the eighth, gave up a single to pinch-hitter Takayuki Shimizu to lead off the inning before walking the next batter, Akira Eto.
