Myanmar's Zaw Moe set fire to Setonaikai Golf Club's 7,214-yard layout by carding an 11-under 61 to equal the Japanese tour record on a par-72 course, holing 12 birdies against a lone bogey to storm 113 places up the leaderboard into third place midway through the 100 million yen Mizuno Open on Friday.

Sixth-year pro Kenichi Kuboya fired a blistering 6-under-par 66 to grab a one-shot lead. Teeing off two shots off the pace, Kuboya, aiming to end a title drought that dates back to 1997, highlighted a flawless round with four birdies and an eagle to reach the clubhouse at 10-under 134.

Overnight leader Hidemichi Tanaka fired a 69, good for second place.

Joining Moe for a share of third at 8-under 136 are India's Jeev Milkha Singh (66), Kazumasa Sakaitani (66) and first-round co-leader Taku Sugaya (70).
