OSAKA -- Japan national team midfielder Junichi Inamoto appears headed to Atletico Madrid of the Spanish second division, sources close to J. League side Osaka Gamba said Tuesday.
The sources said a formal announcement may be coming as early as next week once an agreement is reached.
Inamoto, 21, who has reportedly received a number of offers from teams overseas, including from Italy's Serie A, picked the Spanish Second Division because he feels he would have a chance to play regularly.
Inamoto has appeared in 20 A-level international matches for Japan and most recently played in four matches in Japan's Confederations Cup campaign, missing only the match with Brazil in the preliminary round.
