Sixth-year pro Katsumasa Miyamoto birdied five of his first nine holes en route to a 4-under-par 68 Friday and an 11 under par total of 133 to snatch a one-shot lead midway through the Tamanoi Yomiuri Open golf tournament.

Yoshimitsu Fukuzawa went round bogey-free with a 70, and Toru Suzuki, who fired the day's low of 66, were tied for second on 134.

Oh yes for Ono

NAKATSUGAWA, Gifu (Kyodo) Two-time winner Kyoko Ono scored a 4-under-par 68 Friday to take a one-shot lead at the end of the first day of the 50 million yen Apita Circle-K Sankus Ladies tournament.

Akane Oshiro ran in three birdies before the turn and matched the course coming in, finishing one stroke back in second place to head the challenging pack.

Michie Oba and Aki Takamura, lie two shots behind Ono in a four-way tie for third place with Midori Yoneyama and Kaori Harada.
