Staff writer This year's Toyota Princess Cup tennis tournament will feature stars of the past and present, organizers announced Thursday in Tokyo. American Venus Williams is expected to make her debut in Japan, along with sister Serena who is the defending champion.
Also expected to participate in the $565,000 tournament, to be played at Tokyo's Ariake Colosseum Sept. 17 through 23, are Australian and French Open champion Jennifer Capriati of the U.S. and Yugoslav teen Jelena Dokic. Defending doubles champions Ai Sugiyama will also take part, along with three-time French Open champion Spaniard Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario and Martina Navratilova of the U.S., who will play in the doubles competition.
