Kunishige Kamamoto was the Hidetoshi Nakata or the Kazu Miura of his day.
That day was Oct. 24, 1968, when he scored two goals against host country Mexico to earn Japan the soccer bronze medal at the Mexico Olympics.
Kamamoto's performance in Mexico is often credited with creating the original soccer boom in Japan.
