KASHIMA, Ibaraki Pref. -- Japan and Brazil played to a 0-0 draw in their final first-round game of the Confederations Cup at Ibaraki Stadium in Kashima on Monday, which meant that Japan finished on top of Group A and Brazil second.
In the final group match of the first round, Cameroon beat Canada 2-0 with goals from Bernard Tchoutang and Patrick Mboma to finish third and condemn the Canadians to the cellar.
The semifinals will see Brazil up against favorite and Group A winner France in Suwon, South Korea, and Japan take on Australia at Yokohama on Thursday. The France-Brazil game will kick off at 8 p.m., while Japan-Australia starts at 5 p.m.
