KASHIMA, Ibaraki Pref. -- When you have success in a soccer tournament, you often have a player or two who shine on your side.
In Japan's Confederations Cup campaign there have been three standouts thus far: Kashima Antlers forward Takayuki Suzuki, Urawa Reds midfielder Shinji Ono and Yokohama F. Marinos goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi.
Suzuki scored two goals in Japan's 2-0 win over Cameroon on Saturday, helping Japan qualify for the semifinals with one match remaining in the first round and Ono played well on the left midfield, where he more than adequately replaced the injured Hiroshi Nanami of Jubilo Iwata and Shunsuke Nakamura of the Yokohama F. Marinos.
