Left-hander Shugo Fujii pitched 71/3 shutout innings while going 2-for-3 with two RBIs Wednesday as the Yakult Swallows blanked the Yomiuri Giants 7-0 for their sixth win in seven games.
Fujii (6-1), who got out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the second, scattered five hits with seven strikeouts and four walks before leaving the mound at Jingu Stadium five outs away from his first career complete-game shutout.
Fujii hit RBI singles in the second and seventh to shine at the plate along with Mitsuru Manaka, who was 3-for-5 with three doubles and drove home four runs.
