Scott Laycock of Australia tied the course record with a 5-under-par 67 Thursday to grab a one-shot lead after the first round of the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup golf tournament in Hyogo Prefecture.

Defending champion and money rankings leader Shingo Katayama, winner of two tournaments this year, fired a 68 and is in an eight-man group which also includes Australia's Shane Tait, Shinichi Yokota, Masayuki Kawamura, Toru Taniguchi, Toshimitsu Izawa, Nobuo Serizawa and Ryoken Kawagishi.
