Nick Faldo, a six-time major winner, shot 151 (75-76) in the first two rounds of the Masters last month and missed the cut. This means he earned nothing.
Faldo has won six tournaments on the U.S. PGA Tour, including three Masters titles, and has 34 other wins around the world. He's earned well over $10 million in prize money and that has multiplied with endorsements.
World-class players such as Faldo also receive appearance money to most non-tour events. Tiger Woods can rake in $1 million just for showing up. Obviously Faldo isn't in that league, despite six majors to his name, but he has been able to cash in on his fame. Faldo, who will turn 44 in July, has an exemption on the U.S. PGA Tour until 2006 due to his last win at the Masters in 1996. However, he only made $276,583 on the tour last year (Tiger made in the region of $10 million) and finished 142nd on the money list, well below the cutoff point for regular golfers to qualify for the PGA Tour.
