Twenty-year-old Australian Adam Scott, who turned professional last year, made two eagles in shooting a 6-under-par 64 on Friday to move into a tie for the lead midway through the Chunichi Crowns golf tournament.

Scott picked up six strokes in the first seven holes on his way to tying the day's low round and an 8-under 132 total on the Nagoya Golf Club's par-70 Wago Course, sharing the lead with Eiji Mizoguchi, Mitsutaka Kusakabe and Dean Wilson of the United States.

One stroke off the pace at 7-under 133 are Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland, who shot a 67, and Shigemasa Higaki, the other player who carded the second-round best of 64.

Ohba joint leader

MURE, Kagawa Pref. (Kyodo) Michie Ohba, winner of last week's Nasu Ogawa Ladies, fired a 3-under-par 69 in the first round of the 50 million yen Katokichi Queens golf tournament for a share of the lead with South Korean Shin Sora and Rie Murata.
