David H. Will, the chairman of FIFA's World Cup Ticketing Sub-Committee, told a news conference in Tokyo on Thursday that he was "astonished " at the demand for tickets in the host countries, particularly Japan.
"KOWOC (the Korean organizing committee) had a sellout of its first-phase tickets," he said. "In Japan, the response has been astonishing.
"We have 2.4 million applications, which means that we have applications for 25 million tickets. This is incredible." Will said he didn't even expect a million applications from Japan.
