Former national record-holder Satoru Inoue, who represented Japan at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, announced his retirement Thursday after a comeback attempt failed due to a series of injuries.
Inoue, 29, set a 100-meter national record of 10.20 seconds in 1991 as a Nihon University student and led Japan's 4x100-meter relay team to sixth place at the Barcelona Olympics the following year
