Give us more backup to win the World Cup. That was the message manager Philippe Troussier had for Japan's soccer fans Sunday.

"We are all walking together toward the World Cup," Troussier said. "By earning your trust, I think we can achieve the best result, that is, winning the World Cup," he added in a two-hour lecture to some 2,000 fans gathered for a soccer symposium at Hitomi Memorial Hall in Tokyo.

Troussier talked about what he's done with the national team since he took the helm in September 1998, including the Sydney Olympics, the Asian Cup and Japan's recent 5-0 loss to France.
