Masayuki Kawamura blitzed his way to a six-stroke halfway lead at the 100 million yen Tsuruya Open on Friday as the Hiroshima native fired a crackling 9-under-par 63 after starting the second round one shot off the pace.

Kawamura tied the course record at the Sports Shinko Country Club.

American Todd Hamilton, who teed off three strokes off the lead, recorded an adventurous 5-under-par 67, which included an eagle at the 500-yard, par-5 15th, to reach the clubhouse tied for second with Japan's Tsukasa Watanabe, who carded a 68.
