Pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka finally got the run support he needed to cruise to his first win of the season Wednesday as the Seibu Lions handed the defending Pacific League champion Daiei Hawks their fifth straight loss with a 10-1 demolition.
Matsuzaka (1-2), who led the PL in wins the last two seasons, pitched two-hit ball over seven innings with five strikeouts and as many walks in front of 23,000 home fans at the Seibu Dome.
Alex Cabrera hit his fourth homer of the season -- a three-run shot in the third -- and Satoshi Nakajima went 3-for-3 with four RBIs to lift Seibu to .500 for the first time this season while sending Daiei to the bottom of the six-team standings.
