Yokohama hurler Daisuke Miura showed good form on the mound and at the plate on Sunday to help the BayStars beat the Yakult Swallows 3-0 at Yokohama Stadium in Central League action.
Miura gave up five hits and struck out seven over eight-plus innings to earn his first win of the season. The Yokohama right-hander allowed the Swallows to reach second base only once.
After Miura departed early in the ninth inning, Ryuichi Kawahara and Takashi Saito combined to shut down Yakult rest of the way. Miura drove in the opening run with a double with a runner on first and two outs in the second inning. After Takuro Ishii got a walk, Tatsuhiko Kinjo hit an RBI single.
