Daiei Hawks outfielder Koji Akiyama will miss Saturday's Opening Day clash with the Orix BlueWave because of nagging pain in his right shoulder, officials of the club said Tuesday.
The 38-year-old Daiei captain will spend some time with the Hawks' minor-league team to open the season.
