This year, Japanese soccer fans (and others) can take part in "Toto," the nation's first soccer "lottery," which, effectively, is a form of betting on J. League games.
Punters can go with logic or intuition in predicting how J. League teams will do at the weekend. Alternatively, if that's too hard, you can leave your choices to a computer.
The 100 yen per-line betting sheets are available at about 6,000 shops around the country. All you have to do is fill in your predictions, hand your form in and pay your money. In return, you will get a receipt confirming your selections that you have to produce if you win. Some shops have touch-panel voting machines.
