Noriyoshi Omichi drove in five runs with four hits, including a pair of triples, Saturday to power the Daiei Hawks 13-9 over the Yomiuri Giants in a rematch of last fall's Japan Series.
The Hawks ripped Yomiuri starter Masumi Kuwata for five runs on five hits in the third inning at the Fukuoka Dome and then came back for six more runs on six hits off southpaw Darrell May in the next two frames.
Shinnosuke Abe, the Giants' first-round draft pick last fall, came through with a three-run clout in the fourth inning for Yomiuri, which took the Japan Series in six games last October after winning all three games in Fukuoka.
