has barred Philippine boxers from fighting in nontitle bouts in Japan to help prevent a further increase in illegal workers from the country, JBC officials said Wednesday. The decision, which is expected to last at least until the end of the year, was made to cope with an increasing number of Philippine boxers and trainers who stay on as illegal workers after their fights in Japan.
The JBC, describing the measure as its "strict approach to illegal acts," said it will continue to allow Filipinos to appear in world title fights and title matches sanctioned by the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation.
